Opinion- Lock up your stash <///////}~
If you’re a parent and your marijuana edibles are accessible to your kids, that’s on you — not the school, not “peer pressure,” not legalization, and not society at large.
Most of us — myself included — have tried marijuana or still use it responsibly. We lock it up. We label it. We don’t leave THC gummies sitting around like fruit snacks and then act shocked when a child gets into them. That’s not being “laid-back.” That’s being careless.
Edibles are designed to look like candy. That’s the whole point. So when a kid mistakes a gummy for a gummy, that’s not some unforeseeable accident — it’s the predictable outcome of an adult who didn’t bother to think ahead.
Parents will child-proof cleaning supplies, medications, and alcohol — but somehow marijuana gets a pass because it’s “natural” or “legal” or “not a big deal.” Legal does not mean harmless, and it sure as hell doesn’t mean safe for kids.
This isn’t about shaming marijuana users. It’s about calling out adult negligence. You don’t get to enjoy the benefits of legalization while ignoring the responsibility that comes with it. If you can afford edibles, you can afford a lockbox. If you can remember to charge your phone every night, you can remember to put your drugs away.
