Kingsley Contractor Arrested on Felony Fraud Charges; Homeowners Urged to Come Forward
Traverse City- A Kingsley man has been arrested on felony charges after authorities say he defrauded homeowners across multiple Northern Michigan counties of more than $400,000 in connection with construction and contracting work.
Michigan State Police confirmed that Travis Reimer, 55, of Kingsley, was taken into custody following an investigation into alleged fraud affecting residents in Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Antrim counties.
According to investigators, Reimer is accused of accepting payments for construction projects that were either not completed or not performed as agreed. Authorities allege that in some cases, work never began despite significant upfront payments from homeowners.
The investigation was led by the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post, which began receiving complaints from residents who reported financial losses tied to home improvement and construction contracts.
Reimer faces multiple felony charges related to fraud and deceptive business practices. Formal charges and court proceedings are pending.
State police are urging anyone who believes they may have been affected to contact the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post as the investigation remains ongoing. Officials say additional victims may exist, and further charges are possible.
“This is an active investigation,” police said in a statement. “We encourage anyone who may have had dealings with the suspect and experienced financial loss to come forward.”
Reimer is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
