Third Suspect Charged in Traverse City Parking Deck Homicide Investigation

TRAVERSE CITY — A 20-year-old man was arraigned Dec. 23, 2025, in 86th District Court in connection with the investigation into the Nov. 15 fatal shooting at the Larry C. Hardy parking deck.

Austin C. Bucco faces multiple felony charges stemming from evidence uncovered during the homicide investigation into the death of Lawrence “Larry” Boyd IV.

Bucco is charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Felony firearm
  • Lying to a peace officer in a violent crime investigation, for allegedly providing false statements to police during the probe

Prosecutors allege investigators recovered photographs from co-defendants’ cell phones showing Bucco holding and posing with the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting approximately one hour before Boyd was killed.

While Bucco has not been charged with homicide, authorities say the charges stem from his alleged possession of the weapon and statements made to investigators that conflicted with evidence gathered during the case.

Chief Assistant Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Kyle Attwood said the investigation revealed inconsistencies between Bucco’s account and digital evidence obtained by law enforcement.

Bucco’s bond was denied at arraignment. Court records show he has prior felony convictions that prohibit him from legally possessing a firearm.

Two other individuals — 17-year-old Eugene Thompson and 18-year-old Hunter Vanderwall — face murder-related charges in Boyd’s death. Their cases continue to move through the court system.

The investigation remains active.
