TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (April 15, 2026) — A 57-year-old Traverse City man was hospitalized Tuesday night after being stabbed multiple times in what authorities describe as an incident involving someone he knew.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, the stabbing occurred near Red Drive and Silver Lake Roadon property associated with the Grand Traverse Commons.
After the attack, the injured man was able to leave the scene and make his way to a nearby Meijer store in Garfield Township, where employees called for emergency assistance shortly before 10 p.m.
Deputies and emergency responders arrived and provided immediate first aid, including applying pressure to multiple stab wounds and using a chest seal before transporting the victim to Munson Medical Center for further treatment.
Authorities say the victim sustained multiple wounds to the chest and rib area.
Investigators believe the suspect and victim were acquainted, and officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.
