Fact of the day 01/02/2026

Traverse City was originally settled as a small sawmill town in the mid-19th century and later became a major cherry-processing center.
The city was first settled in 1847 and was incorporated as a village in 1881 and then as a city in 1895. Over time, its economy shifted from logging to agriculture, especially cherry growing, helping it earn the nickname “Cherry Capital of the World.”
