Police Pursuit of Stolen Jeep Ends in Arrests in Traverse City

News Story

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — A stolen vehicle out of Muskegon led to a high-speed pursuit and multiple arrests in Traverse City on Friday afternoon.

Here’s what we know.

A Jeep reported stolen in Muskegon on February 20 was previously involved in a police chase in that area before escaping. On February 21, Traverse City police located the same vehicle within city limits, prompting another pursuit.

The chase began at approximately 4:39 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Three Mile Road. Authorities say the pursuit reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour as officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The situation escalated when police deployed tire spikes, successfully disabling the Jeep. The suspects then fled on foot near Pine Hall off Three Mile Road, sparking a foot pursuit.

Two individuals were detained immediately at the scene. Three others fled on foot but were later located and taken into custody. The final suspect was apprehended at approximately 5:52 p.m., bringing the incident to an end.

Because the suspects are minors, authorities are not releasing names at this time. Any identifying information has also been edited from released audio transmissions.

No additional details have been released as of now. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
